bucket list

she didn't think it was fair she couldn't be in the post.

i've been doing a lot of blog reading lately & i've had the pleasure to stumble upon several bucket lists. some of y'all want to do so many inspirational things in life (& some who are serious daredevils). i got so inspired that i wanted to share my bucket list. M & i wrote ours just after thanksgiving last year & mailed them to one another. *for those of you who read our story, this was the only time we mentioned getting married. this was sort of why we mailed them; i was nervous about his reaction to number one. but then i received his, & his number one was "ditto". i smiled a lot.

1 marry my best friend
2 graduate
3 be a mommy
4 own a dslr camera (that's blogger 101, right?)
5 travel out of the country
6 adopt a puppy
7 cave dive
8 ride in a hot air balloon
9 visit all US states
10 cage dive with sharks
11 learn to ballroom dance
12 visit easter island
13 save a life
14 road trip across the country with the pups
15 be a stay-at-home-mom
16 be a grandmother
17 get a tattoo
18 run a marathon
19 order room service for every meal in one day
20 go to a college football game
21 witness a miracle
22 complete my bucket list

several are already completed. & yes, i know, 22 won't happen to a loooong time due to 3, 15, 16, & 18...yes, definitely 18.

thanks to all who inspired me to share mine. what's on your bucket list?

weekend recap

despite the rough patches during the weekend, there were still reasons to smile.

kodi won her first 5K with papa. we watched my youngest sister play in the championship lacrosse game. experienced daylight savings as a married couple. so far daylight savings: 3 the brothertons: 0. churched it up. found a great dog park for the girls. went grocery shopping. HORRAY. spent it all together as a family.

some shots of kodi & papa at the Dog Jog 5k & Mutt Jam
running to the finish line//rehydrating//maggie being a great cheerleader//their cute medal

for M

picture was taken with our DianaF+ last Christmas

weekends are a big thing over here at the brotherton hub. friday is our favorite day because it marks the start of our adventure filled, pancake mornings, bonfire evenings, & the occasional spooning on the couch (M's personal fav). but for whatever reason, this weekend started rough. i was grumpy, M was sick, & kodi ate both burt's bee chap sticks of mine. she's dead. but not really. even after church on sunday, i was still ill about who-knows-what.

while i was vacuuming like a mad woman (literally), M was preparing lunch for us. once i was finished sucking all the joy out of our carpet, i sat down at the table to a husbandly like lunch - chips, tortillas, and cheese dip. bless his heart. but honestly, it was just what i needed. good'ol constipation & high blood pressure never made me feel so happy. M even turned on my favorite pandora station while we ate. then in the middle of lunch he got up from his chair & hugged me. he didn't explain & i didn't need an explanation. he told me he loved me & sat back down.

even after taking my frustration out on him, he still showed me kindness & love. i don't deserve this man. thanks sweetheart for the small reminders of how much you really love me. i never want to take you for granted. i love you.

halloween

this year was the first year we took the girls trick or treating. they've always had costumes, we just never actually took them out. so last night was a new experience & one we both walked away saying "that was surprisingly fun." being our high maintenance husky, kodi usually is weirded out by large crowds & she's not accustom to wearing airplanes. we were worried halloween would be cut short, but she did so well! maggie's never a bother, except when she's being walked with a leash. sheesh, she hates that thing. she's one of those dogs that behaves better off leash, rather than on one. & because last night was halloween, lots of kiddos were out & we didn't want them frightened by wandering grapes.

though we didn't walk home with buckets of candy, we did however learn that our pups make good lookin' grapes & a spiffy airplane.

hope everyone had a fabulous & safe halloween.
