hearts a'flutter

i know valentine's come & gone but that night the wind was WILD & we were't able to light our lanterns. but a week later, conditions were looking better & we jumped on the opportunity.
before they were lit, we wrote on them what we loved about each other & our pups. they take a minute to light & you have to be sure the lantern is nice & fluffed out or it will burn. they are biodegradable, so no harm to the environment was done :) we have two more & i'm looking at the calendar now trying to figure out the next time we can light them. kodi was mesmerized by them. maggie, on the other hand, was spooked by them. not photographed is her running back inside.

now that the lanterns took flight, valentine's day is officially complete here at the brotherton's.
till next year...

oh btw {this has nothing to do with this post, but it's a major crisis, so i thought i'd share} -- i'm having a sisterly sleep over with my sister-in-law tonight, which means M & i won't be together for our daily 365 picture. when i realized it this morning it was too late for a quick snap of the camera & i literally stood with my mouth agape. what do we do? i'm sending SOS's to all of you for help. ideas people! ideas!

from,
the girl with a crisis

diy heart jeans

made these earlier last week. i first wanted to put the hearts on a pair of tights, but that would have required me wearing them while i drew the hearts -- & that would have been an awkward act. so i thought a pair of skinny jeans would do the trick.

what you will need:
- - pair of jeans
- - ruler
- - heart stencil
- - white chalk marker
with your ruler {in my case i used a tape measurer. the ruler was missing}, measure
four inch gaps & mark them with a dot.
parallel with the first column of dots, measure another column of four inch gaps & mark with.
to create a "random" but neat looking pattern, in the middle of four dots mark
another dot & from there measure four inch gaps.
after all dots are marked, place the tip of your heart stencil on the dot.
begin filling in the stencil with your chalk marker.
repeat until you've reached the bottom of your jeans.
touch up any edges. let it dry.
then voila'! simple enough. i wore these three times before washing. normally i only wear jeans twice before a wash, but since it took me some time & effort to make these suckers, i thought another day wouldn't hurt. the hearts come right off in the wash. i washed them like normal, along with a load of other clothes. so no need to worry about it getting on other stuff, because it won't!

now i'm a real blogger

never posted an outfit post before. most {more like all} of my outfits are enough to write about, but i thought my diy-ed heart jeans were worthy enough to be on the blogosphere. in honor of february i made these with a stencil & a white chalk marker. real easy & a fun way to spruce up any outfit -- especially during this month :) oh, but i'm forgetting the most important part of outfit posts:

jeans: F21, sweater: F21 flat: target scarf: gift

hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day with the ones they love most.
now to watch last nights episode of the bachelor!!!

xoxo
